MARCH/APRIL 2018 33 During careful professional drycleaning, as labeled, the facing material lost its bond to the shell fabric which is now stained and puckered. NOT in Vogue There may be some difficulty processing the garments featured here. Members have indicated that the damage occurred even though these garments were cleaned according to the care label’s instructions. The garments shown are among the current top repeaters received in DLI’s International Textile Analysis Lab and are selected on the basis of the seasonality and timeliness of the problem. DLI has contacted these manufacturers to work with them on resolving these problems. The bottom portion of this bulletin details the status of this work. As these garments are currently on the market, however, and since we have seen repeated examples of damage, you may want to discuss these potential problems with your customers. Manufacturer: Burberry RN: None Manufacturer Contact Information: Burberry Limited Importer, Wholesaler, Retailer 444 Madison Ave. New York, NY 10022 Ph. (877) 217-4085 Email: us.customerservice@burberry.com Website: www.us.burberry.com Description: A tan all-weather coat with plaid lining made of polyester & polyurethane. Care Instructions: The care label states: “Dry Clean with Special Care-Do Not Wash-Low Iron.” The care label also has the corresponding International Cleanability Code care symbols indicating dryclean short cycle / reduced moisture / low heat / no steam finishing. Problem: During gentle-care professional drycleaning the urethane facing binder partially dissolved and tiny spots stained the shell fabric. This loss of binder also caused a material separation, thus creating an uneven adverse blistered appearance to the fabric. Response: The representative we talked to about this problem gave no technical response or acknowledgement of any problems with their coats. They did suggest if the coat is relatively new and the customer thinks it is defective they can return it back to the retailer for examination and possible replacement.
