Trimmed Garments
•  Explain and show methods for plain garments requiring no further 
touch-up work. 
•  Then proceed to more advanced garments.
•  Demonstrate how to roll or break collars on the seams.
•  Explain and show method on plain skirts.
•  Then proceed to fancier skirts, and finally to skirts with a few pleats which 
can be machine finished.
•  Include finishing of linings.
•  Start with plain garments that can be finished easily and successfully 
by machine.
•  Teach precautions and other practices necessary to avoid damaging 
the fabric. 
•  Explain and show operation on hand ironing blouses and skirts, then 
proceed to dresses.
•  Select plain garments that cannot be machine finished, and teach hand 
methods of finishing these garments.
•  Explain each additional step that may be required to finish items that 
have been wetcleaned.
•  Select garments with ruffles, frills, beads, sequins, and novelty trimmings. 
•  Teach finishing methods most adaptable to each.
 
•  Trainee should be taught proper method of finishing accessories such as 
detached collars, cuffs, belts, bows, scarves, ties, and sashes.
•  Trainee should be taught finishing methods on all types of evening and 
wedding gowns. 
•  Give special attention to satin, taffeta, beads, sequins, nets, and laces.
•  Explain and show method of finishing miscellaneous items such as over­
alls, snow suits, caps, robes, and other items. 
•  Show methods of finishing velvets, velveteen, corduroy and plush items.
•  Demonstrate methods of restoring these items when flattened. 
•  Explain precautions, and show methods of finishing fur trimmed garment 
and any further process in finishing the fur.
•  Show and explain which hanger to use for each type of garment.
